“Childhood is a landscape bathed in golden light. Not for everyone. Not always. It lies in a land that recedes into the distance with advancing age, well protected by a thicket of memories. A return is impossible. Individual stories fade or merely lose their contours. But what always remains is a feeling, a mood reminiscent of Andrei Tarkovsky's remark that the only thing you remember in a movie is the light.

The kindergarten in Senftenauer Straße in Munich is given a golden tent in which the sun is reflected. The courtyard of this kindergarten, which is predominantly inhabited by “children with a migration background”, is thus bathed in golden light. In this golden light, any interpretation as to whether the object could be the top of a sunken church or a minaret is irrelevant. This poetic project reflects on the nostalgic, dreamlike nature of childhood, likening it to a landscape bathed in golden light. Commissioned by the City of Munich and planned and realized as a general contractor by Stephan Doesinger Studio, this golden, reflective structure, resembling a mysterious object from another world, the tent also serves as a peaceful retreat for children, offering them a space to withdraw and reflect amidst the busyness of the playground.
